Application

Ideally, the School is meant for master and PhD students who wish to learn digital methods and apply them to their research project in the field of consumer culture. Of course, the School welcomes any other kind of scholar and/or professional who wish to approach the digital methods paradigm (e.g., scholars not interested in consumer culture will easily apply the methodological models learnt during the Summer School to their field of expertise, such as political communication, sociology of health, etc.).

The School will host a maximum of 30 participants.

To participate in the Summer School candidates must send their applications at this email address: laura.bruschi@unimi.it, by 6 June 2025. Applications must entail a CV and presentation letter, containing: a) brief bio; b) interests of research; c) motivation to participate in the Summer School.

Fees

The School fee is 250 Euro. Fee includes: a) welcome package (document folder, block-notes, pen, badge); b) welcome aperitivo; c) social dinner; d) daily lunches; f) daily coffee breaks. (The Aperitivo on the Lake is not included in the fee).

Also, this year the School provides two full scholarships (covering the costs of the fee and accommodation); the scholarships are available only for students belonging to the LCSAS Network (Politecnico di Milano, Università degli Studi dell’Insubria, Università degli Studi di Milano Bicocca, Università degli Studi di Milano, Università degli Studi di Pavia) and will be appointed by the School Directors based on CV and motivation letter.

Applications should be sent to laura.bruschi@unimi.it by 6 June 2025. Applications must entail a CV and presentation letter, containing: a) brief bio; b) interests of research; c) motivation to participate in the Summer School.

Requirements

In addition to applicant quality, the Organizing Committee will consider a number of features including: the coherence of the motivation with the aim and scope of the school, the potential benefit for the student’s research, the timeliness for the development of the student’s career. Preference will be given to applicants not participating onsite in the previous edition (2022) of the school.

The school is especially addressed to doctoral students and young postdoctoral scholars. A very limited number of senior students (e.g., assistant/associate/full professors) can be admitted, if they provide strong and convincing motivation in their application letter.
